EDUCATIONAL VALUES IN HAMKA'S NOVEL "TENGGEMNYA KAPAL VAN DER WIJCK": AN ANALYSIS OF THEME, CHARACTERS, CHARACTERISTICS, AND MESSAGE

Abstract

This research is an analysis of the educational elements of the theme, characters and characterization and message in the novel Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck by HAMKA. The formulation of the problem in this research is: What is the theme in the novel Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck by HAMKA?, What are the characters and characterization in the novel Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck by HAMKA?, What is the message in the novel Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck by HAMKA?, What is the educational value in the novel Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck by HAMKA seen from the theme, characters and characterization and message? The purpose of this research is: Want to know the theme in the novel Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck by HAMKA. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method. The data acquisition technique that will be carried out by the author in this research is literature study and documentation. The population in this research is the intrinsic elements of the novel Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck by HAMKA. The sample in this research is the theme, characters and characterization, message and educational values ​​in the novel Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck by HAMKA. After the analysis, the following conclusions were obtained. 1) The theme contained in the novel entitled Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck by Hamka is about true, sincere and loyal love between men and women but cannot be united and cannot be conveyed because of the Minangkabau traditional traditions that are so binding. 2) Characters and characterizations contained in the novel Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck by Hamka The main character is Zainuddin, who has a polite and kind character. Hayati, who is good at being grateful. Aziz, who has a rough character. Khadijah, who likes to influence others. While the subordinate character is Base, who has a character full of affection. Ahmad, has a submissive character, Muluk, has a sociable character. The message contained in the novel Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck by Hamka: If love is sincere from the true heart, then love does not need to be forced to be owned. In life we ​​​​cannot easily give up and must always have a purpose in life. Unrequited love should not be the end of everything. Do not hold grudges against others. Always keep the mandate. The educational elements contained in the Novel Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck by HAMKA are: Elements of religious education; the element of Aqidah is always remembering God in any situation. The element of Morals is aspiring to deepen knowledge of the world and the hereafter so that one day it becomes a useful person. Moral Education Values; Loyalty, honesty, and truth will always be tested. Social Education Values; As members of society, humans must respect and honor each other; and help each other towards fellow human beings.
