HEALING MANTRAS IN HEALING CEREMONIES AGAINST THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE LEBAK - BANTEN COMMUNITY

Abstract

Mantras are a type of written and spoken discourse, as they can be used in various contexts or needs, depending on the perspective used. Mantras are usually written, but their use is usually oral. Mantras contain content or meanings that relate to matters of personal (sacred) interest. The mantras referred to by researchers are mantras for healing. Mantras for healing are a cultural practice that is still used and even preserved by the community, especially in Cicadas Village, Sudamanik Village, Cimarga District, Lebak Regency, Banten. Belief in these mantras can reflect the characteristics of the community regarding their habits or culture in treating illnesses. With the existence of mantras for healing in the community, when treating an illness, the community prioritizes treatment from those who are accustomed to using mantras.
