IMPROVING STUDENTS' LITERACY SKILLS USING GOOGLE CLASSROOM

Abstract

This research is a scientific endeavor that seeks to find solutions to literacy problems among students of the Indonesian Language Education Study Program at Majalengka University. The goal of this research is to foster a spirit of literacy so that students can acquire knowledge and apply that knowledge through writing activities. The main focus of the literacy activities targeted in this research is online literacy, or the utilization of reading materials such as books, journals, proceedings, and other reading sources available online using the Google Classroom application. Google Classroom is a virtual learning application released by Google. The ease of use offered by this application is the basis for the author's idea to develop literacy activities for students using this application. Some of the advantages of this application include the following: First, the ease of accessing the application, namely through the mobile devices or smartphones owned by the students. Second, this application allows lecturers to send reading assignments or literacy materials to all students quickly with a single click. Third, lecturers can use this application as a space for literacy discussions with students simultaneously, allowing them to monitor students' literacy activities. Fourth, through Google Classroom, lecturers can instruct, assign, and discuss with students online at the same time simultaneously (virtual class).
