Abstract

This research was conducted to produce a pragmatic module based on language analysis on the Facebook social network. This research approach uses a mixed method approach, namely a combination of qualitative descriptive analytical and quantitative experimental methods. Several stages in this research are as follows (1) theoretical and practical analysis (2) analysis of pragmatic language on the Facebook social network (3) analysis of teaching material needs for students and lecturers (4) preparation of pragmatic teaching materials (5) assessment by lecturers and experts (6) improvements (7) trial of product effectiveness on students. The results of this study can be presented as follows. In accordance with the theory that the use of the words I, ku-, and ku-, is used in casual situations, the results of this analysis also show that the language used by Facebook social network users is mostly casual, informal, and many even use alay language. (2) The average score of the results of the analysis of students' teaching material needs is 53, including the category of really needing teaching materials, while the score of the lecturer's needs analysis is 61, including the category of really needing teaching materials. (3) The results of the lecturer and expert assessments are that there are improvements including improvements to the cover, pictures and illustrations, the use of effective sentences, differences in letter color. (4) The resulting product is a module for four activities, namely deixis, presuppositions, speech acts, and conversational implicatures. (5) The results of the trial on students are an average pretest score of 63 (C) and posttest 73 (B) so it can be concluded that the pragmatic module teaching material based on the analysis of Facebook social network language is effective as teaching material.
