ANALYSIS OF CODE SWITCHING AND GREETINGS IN THE NOVEL 'RONGGENG DUKUH PARUK' BY AHMAD TOHARI

Abstract

The research on code switching and greeting words in the novel 'Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk' by Ahmad Tohari is a qualitative descriptive research. The problem studied in this research is how code switching and greeting words in the novel 'Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk' by Ahmad Tohari. The goal to be achieved is to find out the code switching and greeting words in the novel 'Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk' by Ahmad Tohari. The data is written data in the form of character speech in the novel 'Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk' by Ahmad Tohari. Data collection was carried out using the listening method. The basic technique used is a literature review and the advanced technique of note-taking techniques. Data analysis uses the distributional method. The distributional method is used to analyze code switching and greeting words in character speech, with the basic technique of direct elements (BUL) and the advanced technique of substitution techniques. The matching method is used to analyze the causes of code switching and greeting words with the basic technique of determining element separation (PUP). Based on the results of the data analysis, two conclusions were obtained. First, there are 8 code switchings in the novel Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk by Ahmad Tohari, namely code switching from Indonesian to Javanese. Second, there are 26 greetings in the novel Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk by Ahmad Tohari, including 10 kinship greetings, 7 office greetings, 6 customary greetings, and 3 religious greetings.
