THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PBSI STUDENTS' PERCEPTIONS OF THE TEACHING PROFESSION AND PBSI STUDENTS' LEARNING ACHIEVEMENT AT KUNINGAN UNIVERSITY

Abstract

The problem in this study is the good and bad perception and learning achievement of PBSI students at Kuningan University, and is there a relationship between the two variables. The formulation of the problem is as follows (1) How is the perception of PBSI students towards the teaching profession?, (2) How is the learning achievement of PBSI students at Kuningan University?, (3) Is there a relationship between the perception of PBSI students about the teaching profession and the learning achievement of PBSI students at Kuningan University?. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between the perception of PBSI students about the teaching profession and the learning achievement of PBSI students at Kuningan University. The method used in this study is a descriptive correlational method with a quantitative approach. Sampling uses a random sampling technique, namely a method of taking samples from members of the population using random without paying attention to strata (levels) in the population. The instrument used is a questionnaire in the form of a Likert scale with 4 options consisting of 37 statements. Then the author conducted data analysis using percentages and correlation coefficients. The hypothesis proposed by the author in this study is "There is a relationship between PBSI students' perceptions of the teaching profession and the academic achievement of PBSI students at Kuningan University."
Based on the research, the results of the statistical test of variable X (PBSI Students' Perceptions of the Teaching Profession) showed that 39 students (52.7%) had a positive perception and 34 students (45.9%) had a negative perception. The results of the statistical test of variable Y (Learning Achievement) showed that 40 students (54.1%) had good achievements and 34 students (45.9%) had poor achievements. The correlation coefficient value of p = 0.970, so p < α, can be concluded that there is a very strong and significant relationship between student perceptions of the teaching profession and academic achievement. This study is expected to provide a positive perception and improve the academic achievement of PBSI students at Kuningan University.
