The title of this research is Analysis of the Structure and Rules of Exposition Text in Pikiran Rakyat Daily Edition of Week 2 of January 2015 and Its Utilization as Teaching Material in Learning to Understand Exposition Text in Senior High School Curriculum 2013. Problem formulation: 1) how is the structure of the exposition text in Pikiran Rakyat Daily Edition of January 2015?; 2) how are the rules of the exposition text in Pikiran Rakyat Daily Edition of January 2015?; and 3) can the exposition text in Pikiran Rakyat Daily Edition of January 2015 be used as teaching material to understand exposition text in Senior High School? Method: Descriptive qualitative. Conclusion: The exposition text in Pikiran Rakyat Daily Edition of January 2015, if seen from the structure and rules of the exposition text, is in accordance with the competencies to be achieved, as well as with the subject matter to be delivered, and with the condition of the available facilities. Thus, it can be concluded that the expository text in the January 2015 edition of Pikiran Rakyat Daily can be used as teaching material for high school students in understanding expository text.
