The purpose of this study is to find out how students use the Faithful translation method in translating a literary work in the form of a short story entitled "Blunder" by Anton Chekov from English into Indonesian. In this study the author uses a descriptive research method in collecting data and analyzing data obtained from the results of English-Indonesian translations from third-year students. The author uses translation theories from Newmark in analyzing what methods are used by students and Baker to analyze equivalence in translation. Based on the results of the analysis of the translation results carried out by students, it can be concluded that almost all students use the Faithful method in translating the short story. The Faithful translation method is often used by students, because students try to translate the contextual meaning of the source language exactly. In addition, equivalence was found in the translations carried out by students, namely grammatical similarities.
