ANALYSIS OF SLANG WORDS IN THE TRANSLATION OF THE FILM “AUSTIN POWER; THE SPY WHO SHAGGED ME”

This study aims to analyze the translation of slang words and translation equivalence carried out by students in translating literary works in the form of a film entitled, "Austin Powers; The Spy who Shagged Me". The researcher used a qualitative method. The researcher used several steps in the study starting from data collection in the form of data observation and analyzing data documents. In analyzing the translation carried out by students, the researcher used Newman's theory and in analyzing the equivalence in translation, the researcher used Baker's theory. In this study, it was found that students were able to translate 6 slang words from 12 slang words contained in the film entitled, "Austin Power; The Spy Who Shagged Me", while in translation equivalence there were 3 equivalences used in translating from 3 types of existing equivalence.
