REALISTIC FICTION PROSE IN DEVELOPING STUDENTS' CHARACTER

Abstract

Preparing the next generation of the nation with strong character is very important in this century. The character that we know as the nature or nature of an individual in its development can be formed through the educational process. Education is not only knowledge but also good and bad morals that students need to know. In learning Indonesian in Elementary School, fictional prose is one type of literature that is integrated with Indonesian language subjects. In this case, fictional prose can be a medium for conveying moral messages to students, through the characters of the characters. Cultivating student character through literary literacy in schools needs to be developed by providing reading facilities that can attract students' interest. Realistic fictional prose is one of the literary literacy media. Stories that are included in this type of realistic fictional prose aim to convey messages that contain logical life values, related to ethics, morals, religion and other values. Therefore, realistic fictional prose can be one of the references for student reading materials in schools as a source of character education. Through this reading, students can learn about ethics, morals and religious life more realistically.
