THE MEANING OF MADIHIN BAINTAN POETRY IN BANJARMASIN CULTURE USING A STRUCTURALIST APPROACH

This research, entitled “The Meaning of the Baintan Madihin Poem in Banjarmasin Culture Using a Structural Approach,” aims to determine its denotative and connotative meanings. The theory used is Roland Barthes' theory with a structural approach. The method used in this research is a qualitative research method that examines sentences rather than numbers. The data source is the Baintan Baintan video by Gozali Rahman. Data collection techniques include recording and interviews. The results of the research conclude that the traditional Baintan art contains both connotative and denotative meanings. The connotative meaning of Baintan Baintan is the Indonesian translation that has not yet been interpreted, while the denotative meaning of Baintan Baintan includes humorous meanings and cultural meanings that serve as entertainment activities and also to introduce the identity of the madihin performer's region.
