THE BAU NYALE TRADITION AND ITS MULTICULTURAL VALUES IN THE SASAK TRIBE

This research aims to explain: (1) the influence and function of the Bau Nyale tradition on the Sasak people in Lombok Island, and (2) the cultural values contained within the Bau Nyale tradition. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method, exploring cultural traditions that influence society regarding the existing cultural values in the Bau Nyale tradition of the Sasak people on Lombok Island. The object of this research is the Bau Nyale tradition at Segar Beach, Kute Village, Pujut District, Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara. The results of this study show the following: 1) Several functions of the Bau Nyale Tradition for the Sasak people are: (1) historical function, (2) as recreation, (3) as a tourism event, (4) as a platform for expressing cultural values, (5) as a driver of the community's economy, and (6) as cultural enculturation. 2) The cultural values contained in the Bau Nyale tradition are as follows: (1) Spiritual or Divine Values, (2) Integration or renewal values, and (3) Solidarity values.
