Abstract

The Literacy Movement is a participatory activity involving all members of the school community (students, teachers, principals, educational staff, school supervisors, school committee, and parents/guardians). This is related to the learning carried out in schools, where literacy is synonymous with reading and writing activities, encompassing how a person communicates in society. Literacy also means practices and social relationships related to knowledge, language, and culture (UNESCO, 2003). Students' abilities as learning subjects in the School Literacy Movement include the ability to determine, identify, find, evaluate, and create information in an organized manner to communicate it to each individual to actively participate in learning at school and in society. The collaborative language learning movement at SDN 1 Kalapagunung emphasizes the effectiveness of literacy by implementing a 15-minute reading habit for students, which can direct the development of learning at the receptive, productive, and responsive skill levels of students. Language learning, in the School Action Research conducted at SDN 1 Kalapagunung, aims to improve the literacy skills of each student through teaching methods and techniques implemented by teachers in utilizing existing resources to foster a culture of literacy at SDN 1 Kalapagunung.
