DISHARMONI KELUARGA DALAM NOVEL BELENGGU KARYA ARMIJN PANE

Abstract

ABSTRACT: The harmony of a couple in the family is the dream of all human beings. Conflicts that are difficult to resolve in a husband-wife relationship will lead to a divorce. With gender differences and divisions in a family, it can create a form of family disharmony. Several novel authors use a family sociology approach in reflecting on the phenomenon of family disharmony. Armijn's attention to social issues became the background for the birth of the Belenggu novel. This study aims to analyze the form of family disharmony in the Belenggu novel by Armijn Pane using a sociological approach to literature and using descriptive qualitative methods. The reading and note-taking technique was used in this study to classify the forms of family disharmony in the novel. The results of this study indicate that the forms of family disharmony in the Belenggu novel consist of: (1) divorce due to infidelity in the family; (2) lack of attention and affection of husband and wife; (3) conjugal egocentrism; and (4) disputes due to differences in vision and mission in the family. Armijn Pane proved that the phenomenon of family disharmony can be packaged in a work of fiction in the form of a novel without forgetting the moral values that serve as a reminder for readers not to play with a marriage and better understand important issues for a husband and wife to understand. Although there are many problems that cause family disharmony, there are solutions to solve them.
