CHARACTER ESTABLISHMENT OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS WITH LITERATURE TEACHING

ABSTRACT: This study discusses the character building of elementary school students by teaching literature. This is motivated by the problems experienced by students at this time, which is related to the decline in morale, creativity and student interaction both in the school environment and in the community. The steps that can be taken are strengthening students' understanding regarding the teaching of literature that has a study content between humans and their environment. This is of course instilled since students are still sitting on the elementary school (SD) education bench. The forms of the steps that must be understood are, (1) the application of character building for elementary school students, both in the formal education environment and in the family environment, (2) the application of teaching literature to elementary school students, and (3) optimizing the character formation of elementary school students by literature teaching. By understanding this implementation, it is hoped that the life of students with character will be created, so that a generation with such character can build the nation for a better life.
