EXPLORING DISCOVERY LEARNING BASED ON LESSON STUDY TO ENHANCE HIGHER-ORDER THINKING SKILLS IN HIGHER EDUCATION

ABSTRACT: The aims of this research by the lower order thinking skills of students in higher education. Combining two approaches, namely Discovery Learning and Lesson Study, to create a learning environment that promotes higher order thinking skills. Through a series of Lesson Study stages, which consist of (1) Plan (2) Do, and (3) See, Lecturer designed and conducted Discovery Learning lessons that involved students in exploring the course material. The result indicates the Discovery Learning based Lesson study is effective in enhancing students' higher order thinking skills, such as critical analysis, synthesis, and problem-solving. The incorporation of Discovery Learning-based on Lesson Study in a reading course demonstrates that students' higher order thinking skills in reading course has improved during teaching learning process with the lecturer.
